Oceans cover about seven-tenths of the world's surface and are home to some very fascinating creatures. Only a habitat as vast as the ocean could accommodate the world's largest animal: the blue whale. This massive mammal is about twenty-five times the size of a male African elephant.

There are many unexplained mysteries of ocean life and many species still waiting to be discovered. Unfortunately, oceans and their inhabitants are being harmed at an alrming rate by pollution, excessive commercial fishing, and a number of other human factors.

Education is one way to help oceans. The more people know about oceans and the creatures that depend upon them, the more they will realize that this beautiful and unique environment must be protected.
